The sling is one of mankind's oldest ranged weapons and has accompanied us through the ages and various cultures of the world right up to the present day. From a simple strap, which holds a stone in its center, to an ornately patterned and elaborate hand-woven sling, there are virtually no limits to the design of this tool. And its use is no less between the poles of being difficult and accessible: Slinging requires no particular strength, stamina or skill and is a gentle sport for young and old alike. But mastering it is a lifelong task at which you never stop learning.

Funda mittere is an attempt to collect information on slings mainly for the German-speaking area, but most pages are available in English as well. It includes articles on the history, use and manufacture of this multifaceted tool.
